Tropical Shores is a single-family home community of around 170 homes located West of the Trail, and bordering the Intercoastal Waterway to Sarasota Bay, in south Sarasota. The community has a private, member-only Civic Center for residents of this community, with a waterfront club house, on a park-like setting, with a full Kitchen, festive Bar (BYOB), pool and foosball tables. It has a television with Internet access, comfortable furnishings, for recreation or relaxing. It is 1,300 square feet of open floor space, with on-site parking, barbecue grills, picnic tables, the boat basin, a boat ramp, boat slips and kayak or canoe storage. The home itself, built in 1973 has an effective date of 1998 has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a covered front porch, foyer entry into the Great Room (living/dining combined), a galley Kitchen, a Florida Room, inside Utility (laundry) Room, and a two car garage. There is a rear open paver deck off the Florida Room and a separate bonus room (shed), stand alone building in the rear yard behind the house.

With no carpet on the floors, engineered wood or tile floors, the home has just under 1,700 square feet of living area and just under 2,300 square feet under roof. Sarasota County Potter Park is a short drive away from Tropical Shores, which is a 37-acre neighborhood park located within Palmer Ranch and offers a variety of both active and passive recreational opportunities. A picnic pavilion, large gazebo, grills, open area picnic tables,
a playground, basketball courts, four lighted tennis courts, Multi-use playfield, restrooms, and nature trails.

The Selby Aquatic Center and Water Park is a short drive away from Tropical Shores and are operated by the non-profit Sarasota Sharks, Inc. The center consists of a 50-meter, Olympic-size pool; 25-meter warm-up pool; and a seasonal water park. The facility is available to book through the Sarasota Sharks organization.
