The idea of moving to Florida didn't materialize out of thin air; it had been simmering for a while. Patrick's mother had been living in Florida for nearly three decades, and we'd been visiting her for years. During those visits, we fell head over heels in love with the area's charm, its vibrant lifestyle and the promise of escaping those brutal Chicago winters. We were looking to change our entire lives and embrace a new start.
But the decision to uproot our lives, leave our successful business behind and start fresh in Florida was not made lightly. It was a choice laden with challenges and risks. Before getting into real estate, Megan worked in the television industry for 15 years, and Patrick owned a telecommunication business. The last 8 years of Megan’s TV career were spent creating lifestyle programming. One of her favorite topics was
home remodeling. With this passion for home design and a desire to leave the corporate lifestyle, we started rehabbing homes in the Chicago area.
With Patrick’s business experience and Megan’s eye for design, it was a fun and rewarding experience exploring real estate and trying our hands at something completely new. As it turns out, we were very successful at it! Megan received her REALTORS® license, wanting to sell the properties we flipped and help friends and family with any of their real estate needs. Others began requesting our help, and before we knew it, we established a great client base that trusted us.
The decision to move would take away the strong foundation we had built, both in the industry and in our personal lives. Our kids were hesitant to leave behind their schools and their friends, but they, too, were excited at the thought of living in Florida. We knew if we could reestablish ourselves, we may be even happier there than we were in Chicago. At the very least, we had to try.
We had to navigate the process of selling our Chicago home while ensuring our children had a smooth transition. Patrick moved to
Florida ahead of the family, setting the groundwork, enrolling the kids in school and laying the foundation for our new life.
Megan stayed back to wrap up our business in Chicago and oversee the sale of our home. It was challenging to be separated from each other during this time, but when our home sold and Megan closed the remaining sales in Chicago, we all felt a mixture of relief and trepidation — this was it, our move to Florida was finally happening!
Our family finally reunited in Florida, bringing our Chicago chapter to a close. There was a period of adjustment, and there were undoubtedly moments of homesickness, but we pressed on. As a growing area, we found many of our clients shared the same goal
of embracing the Florida lifestyle. With the experience we gained in Chicago, our business took off quickly, solidifying our future here.
We can relate to our clients and understand the many emotions that can go into a transaction, especially when it involves moving from out of state. As a top-producing team in the area, we have helped hundreds of people here. More often than not, the greatest reward is when our clients become friends — we cherish the relationships we have formed here!
When we are not helping clients find their dream homes, we spend our free time coaching baseball,
boating, fishing, paddleboarding and golfing — we will do just about anything outside to soak up the Florida sunshine! Our kids love
it here, and we are very grateful we can now call Florida home.
